Frequently Asked Questions About Our Rates

MyUSA Credit Union rates may change at any time based on market conditions and other factors. Some rates, such as variable-rate loans, may change when an underlying index or benchmark changes, while other rates may remain the same for a period of time. We recommend checking our current rates page for the most up-to-date loan and deposit rates.

MyUSA Credit Union offers both fixed- and variable-rate loans, depending on the type of loan. Many of our consumer loans, including auto, motorcycle, boat, RV, and ATV loans, have fixed rates, meaning the interest rate and scheduled payment generally remain the same for the life of the loan. Home Equity Lines of Credit (HELOCs) have variable rates that can change as the Prime Rate changes.

When you apply, we’ll help you understand whether your loan has a fixed or variable rate and what that means for your payments.

Your loan rate may depend on several factors, including your credit history, the type and term of the loan, the amount you borrow, the collateral securing the loan, and other underwriting factors. Your qualifications and the specific loan program can also affect the rate you receive.

MyUSA Credit Union publishes rates as low as rates, so the rate you qualify for may differ from the advertised rate. When you apply, we’ll review your individual circumstances and explain the rate and terms available to you.

APR (Annual Percentage Rate) is the annualized cost of borrowing money and is commonly used for loans and credit cards. APY (Annual Percentage Yield) is the annualized amount you can earn on a deposit account, including the effect of compounding interest.

In simple terms, APR tells you what you pay to borrow, while APY tells you what you can earn on your savings. When comparing loan rates, look at the APR. When comparing savings and deposit accounts, look at the APY.

No. MyUSA Credit Union savings rates and Annual Percentage Yields (APYs) may change after an account is opened. The rate you earn depends on the current rate for your specific account and balance. Rates are subject to change at any time, so we recommend checking our current rates page for the most up-to-date information.

When you open a MyUSA Certificate, the rate and Annual Percentage Yield (APY) are based on the standard published rate available at the time of account opening. The certificate has a fixed term, so the rate generally remains in effect for that term. When the certificate matures or renews, the new rate will be based on the rates available at that time.

Certificate rates are subject to change for new accounts, so check our current rates before opening or renewing a Certificate.

MyUSA’s lowest advertised loan rates are generally available to borrowers who meet the qualifications for that particular loan product. Your credit history, creditworthiness, loan amount, term, collateral, and other underwriting factors may affect the rate you receive.

There isn’t one credit score that guarantees the lowest rate. MyUSA uses its own lending criteria to evaluate each application and determine the rate and terms for which you qualify.

Before applying, MyUSA Members can use SavvyMoney through Online Banking or the MyUSA Mobile App to check their credit score and review the factors that may be affecting their credit. SavvyMoney provides personalized insights that can help you better understand your credit and identify opportunities to improve it.
